Certification Verification Services (CVS) ON-LINE

Welcome to the ECFMG� Certification Verification Service (CVS) ON-LINE, ECFMG�s web-based certification verification request service. ECFMG applicants and ECFMG certified physicians can use CVS ON-LINE to request that ECFMG send a report of their ECFMG certification status to a medical licensing authority (�state board�). To use CVS ON-LINE, you must have an ECFMG on-line services password (see Frequently Asked Question #2 below).


CVS ON-LINE is easy to use and is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. For additional information, please review the following frequently asked questions. 1. Who should use CVS ON-LINE?

International medical graduates who wish to have confirmation of their ECFMG� certification status sent to a medical licensing authority.
2. What do I need to use the service?

You will need your USMLE/ECFMG� Identification Number, an ECFMG on-line services password, and an acceptable method of on-line payment.

If you have used ECFMG�s On-line Applicant Status and Information System (OASIS) or have applied for an exam using ECFMG�s Interactive Web Applications (IWA), you already have an on-line services password. If you do not have an on-line services password, you can obtain one by accessing OASIS and following the instructions for first-time users of ECFMG�s on-line services.

You must pay for your request by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) or with an on-line payment from your U.S. checking account.
3. This is the first time I�ve used CVS On -Line. How does it work? How do I use it?

You will login to CVS ON-LINE using your USMLE/ECFMG Identification Number and on-line services password. You will be asked to confirm and, if necessary, update your contact information. You will then select �Make a Request� and choose the medical licensing authority that you want to receive the report. After making your selections and selecting �Finish,� you will have the opportunity to review the accuracy of your request before proceeding.

The next screen will show the summary of fee(s) and give you the option of entering additional report requests. If you wish to add another request, you will be returned to the request screen.

To pay the total due, select a method of payment and enter the information requested into our secure web page. If you have a credit in your ECFMG� financial account, you will be given the option of using this credit towards your total due.

You will receive verification of receipt of your request after the submission of payment. Requests are processed typically within two weeks of receipt of the completed request and payment.

4. How is my report of of ECFMG� certification status delivered to the medical licensing authority?

There are two delivery methods for electronically submitted report requests: electronic or paper. IMGs cannot select the report delivery method.
5. If I experience a problem, whom should I contact?

You can contact ECFMG�s Applicant Information Services at 215-386-5900.
6. If I experience difficulty with an electronic payment, what should I do?

You may experience a delay in receiving confirmation of your payment. Do not return to the payment processing screen. This could result in duplicate charges to your credit card or checking account. Please allow 24 hours for payments to be posted to your ECFMG financial account.
7. How can I confirm that my request has been processed?

You will receive verification of receipt of your request after the submission of payment. Requests are processed typically within two weeks of receipt the completed request and payment. Requests entered without a successful payment transaction will not be processed. You can also contact ECFMG�s Applicant Information Services at 215-386-5900.
8. Can I submit multiple requests?

Yes, multiple requests can be submitted in one session and paid for in one transaction.
9. Why have I been instructed to pay more than the standard fee?

If you have an outstanding balance in your ECFMG financial account, you must pay the outstanding balance in addition to the fee for the CVS report before your request will be processed. If you have questions regarding an outstanding balance, access OASIS or contact ECFMG�s Applicant Information Services at 215-386-5900.
